2025 Big Buck Contest Registration Sept 1 – 30
Be Part of Johnson Township’s favourite hunting tradition!
The cool breeze is definitely in the air, making us think of hunting season! Have you been talking to your Hunt Camp Crew? Make sure they all register for the 2025 Big Buck Contest September 1 – 30, 2025.

As a registered hunter, you’ll be competing for bragging rights, cash prizes and more:
- Grand Prize: $300 for the biggest Buck
- Top 3 adult and youth (21 & Under) racks, win cash prizes
- Every registered hunter wins a prize – even if you don’t bring in a rack!
How to Register:
- Online
- At the Municipal Office: 1 Johnson Drive, Desbarats, ON
- At the Johnson Township Community Centre: 1 Cameron Ave. Desbarats, ON
- All Hunter registrations must be in by September 30, 2025
Rules:
- Enteries must have the tag attached or an associated card and license available
- Bucks must be harvested in WMUs within the Algoma Region: 21B, 22, 23, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, or 45
Awards Dinner & Celebration: After the Hunt, join all the other hunters & their families for stories from the hunt on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Johnson Township Community Centre Banquet Hall:
- Measuring begins at 4pm by the Sault College Fish and Wildlife students
- Bar Service opens at 4pm
- Dinner is at 6pm
- Winners and prize draws will take place after dinner
- Families are encouraged to attend and cheer on their hunter!
Cost:
- Hunter Registration & Dinner ticket $35
- Just Dinner $20
- Just Dinner Kids (12 and under) $10
