2023 Big Buck Contest Register September 1-30!

The nights are getting cooler and the leaves are starting to change colour, it can only mean that hunting season is on the horizon. Are you planning for the 2023 Deer Season? First step, register for the 2023 Johnson Township Big Buck Contest. Registration is open September 1 – 30 2022.

As a registered hunter you have the chance to win bragging rights for the biggest buck AND the grand prize of $300. Didn’t snag the big guy? Not to worry all hunters who register will win a prize. The top 3 racks have a chance for a cash prize along with the top youth (ages 21 and under) hunter.

Hunters can register online, at the Municipal Office located at 1 Johnson Drive in Desbarats, ON or at the Community Centre located at 1 Cameron Drive, Desbarats, ON.

After you snag your winning buck, join us on Sunday, November 19th at the Johnson Township Community Centre for the Awards Ceremony & all-you-can-eat Pasta Dinner. Measuring of the racks will take place from 4pm-6pm with Dinner at 6pm. Bar service will open at 4pm. Followed by the announcement of the winners and prize draws.

All entries must be submitted with the tag attached and must come from WMU’s within the Algoma Region or 21B, 22, 23, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, or 45. *Some exceptions may apply for hunters who do not need tags to participate in the hunt.

Registration & Dinner is $35.00, Join your hunter for dinner for $20.00, and bring the kids 12 and under for $10.00.
