Registration Open: 2023 CU-JO Memorial Family Hockey Tournament

The annual Family Tournament will be taking place on, March 17th – 18th 2023.

The Family Tournament honors two local students Curtis Ford and Jocelyn Stevens, both students of CASS who lost their lives too early. To honor their memory the games begin in a 4 on 4 format to acknowledge the lost players. After the first whistle gameplay resumes with a 5 on 5 format. All games are 1 hr or 50 minutes in length and are played in three 10-minute periods. Played as a round-robin style reverting to a points system in the event of a tie. Semi-Finals and Finals add 5 minutes to the clock in the event of a tie and then go into a shoot-out. The remaining details are as follows:

• $450 Team Entry Fee
• 12+ players per team is recommended.
• 3 Games Guaranteed at the Johnson Township Community Centre
• 2 Divisions: Competitive (14yrs +) and Family (6yrs +)
• The Family Division is a Fun and Friendly level for everyone young and old to get a chance to play. Players must be at least 6 years old and teams should be made up of a variety of ages and genders.
• The Competitive Division is for players 14 years old and up.
• The Johnson Township Community Centre Hall will be open during the Tournament and for after-Tournament Festivities.
• Bar Service will be provided Friday evening and Saturday mid-afternoon
• Saturday Evening will also see an after party including Pizza by the slice, karaoke, dancing, and games.
• Cheryl’s Cafe will be open during the tournament with a special menu.
• Proceeds go to support the Johnson Township Recreation Volunteer Scholarship for a graduating CASS and CAES student. Last year we were able to provide $400 in scholarships for two deserving students: Dana Labelle ($300, Gr. 12) and Devaney Boulter ($100, Gr. 8).

We will try our best to get you on a team to fill as many teams as possible. A minimum of 3 teams is required in each division for the tournament to run. Please ensure any minors have a parent sign a participation and photo release waiver before taking the ice. Waivers will be available at the desk in the Lobby.
