Big Buck Contest Results and Report

Sandy Provenzano, 2020 Big Buck winner

The Johnson Township BIG BUCK CONTEST AWARDS were held outdoors at the JTCC Pavilion on Sunday, November 15. Recreation made the decision to not have a supper as it was too complicated with Covid-19 rules and guidelines. Many of the 55 registered hunters attended – registration for the contest was before the bow season opened at the end of September. Ten racks were brought in with the top 3 rack awards going to Sandy Provenzano, with an 11-point rack and a score of 140.6, Richard Winter,  with an 8-pointer and a score of 124, and Brad Charette, with an 9-pointer with a score of 123.4 The context had wonderful support from local hunters and the Business Community, and everyone went home with a prize. Proceeds of just over $500 from this popular local event go to support Johnson Township Recreation programs.

Huge thanks goes to the Big Buck Volunteers who help with registrations and securing draw prizes: Zahida Croskery, Cory Moore, Terry Barber, Frieda Labelle, and Cheryl Larrett. Also the Township acknowledges the help of local businesses McClelland’s Hardware and Feed for helping out with registrations and ticket sales and offering a draw prize; Johnson resident and Sault College instructor Teri Winter and students Zaine Fury and Cass Dunnet from the Sault College Fish and Wildlife Program who volunteered to do the rack measurements; Cheryl Larrett for providing coffee and snacks;  Jordan Winter who manned the coffee and snack table; and Recreation Committee member Frieda Labelle and her daughter Dana for helping with photography, setup and cleanup. Johnson Township Recreation sends a shout out to thank the 40 plus area businesses and individual supporters who donated draw prize items to the event
