PUBLIC NOTICE
COVID-19 UPDATE #4
TOWNSHIP UPDATES

March 31, 2020
Desbarats, Ontario

Mayor Blaine Mersereau and Council is today, issuing a strong message to all residents that they must strictly adhere to the public health guidelines such as practicing physical distancing and entering self-isolation if they have travelled out of country. These guidelines are issued by Algoma Public Health. www.algomapublichealth.com
The Province of Ontario has also issued an order banning gatherings of more than five (5) people. There are exceptions for families and funerals.

“It is critical that Johnson residents and visitors strictly adhere to Algoma Public Health physical distancing and safety requirements to stop the spread of COVID-19. Anyone who has returned from travelling abroad must isolate at home and not enter any local businesses in Johnson to protect the health of all of us. We are deeply concerned about the impact to the capacity of our regional community health and emergency services should the virus continue to spread in the District of Algoma. I do want to thank everyone in advance for taking these most necessary precautions. Please stay safe and healthy.” said Mayor Blaine Mersereau.

The Township of Johnson would also like to inform residents that all municipal facilities will remain closed until further notice. Township staff are still working diligently in an attempt to provide as much business continuity as possible. The Township also appreciates Sault PUC for continuing to safely and effectively manage our water and wastewater system. The Johnson Volunteer Fire Department continues to be on call should their services be needed. Johnson is lucky to have such a well managed and dedicated Fire Department.

The Township would also like to inform residents that any phone calls to the Township Office may not be readily answered. If your call is not immediately answered, please leave a message with your name and phone number and we will return your call as soon as possible.
